Round 1 – Phone Screen

I received a call from an HR representative who had found my profile on LinkedIn and thought I would be a good fit for the SDE 2 Android role at PayPal. She asked for some basic details and scheduled an interview. I was informed that it would cover DSA and Android fundamentals.

Round 2 – DSA Round

I joined the interview and waited for 10 minutes, but nobody showed up. I then called the HR representative and informed her that I was waiting. The interviewer joined shortly afterward and apologised for being late.

We started with brief introductions and then moved on to DSA. I was asked to solve the Trapping Rain Water problem. I proposed multiple solutions, though they were not optimal. However, I felt that the interviewer was rude and completely disinterested. He asked me to code the solution and said that he “did not want to hear my approach.”

While coding, I encountered a few edge cases. By then, the allotted time had run out, so he thanked me and said that HR would be in touch.
